Setup
Stand on the band, hinge your hips back, and hold the handles with your torso inclined forward.
Start phase
Maintain your torso angle and draw both elbows back to bring the handles toward your sides.
End phase
Briefly squeeze your back at the end of the pull, then return by slowly extending your arms.
Target muscles
This movement primarily works your lats, trapezius. Focus on controlling the motion through these muscles.
Common mistakes
Avoid shrugging or bending your wrists to pull. Control the return instead of letting the weight jerk you forward.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull and inhale as you return.
Coach tip
Check that the band cannot slip from under your feet and hold equal lengths on both sides.
