Setup
Stand tall with your feet together or hip-width apart and reach both arms overhead. Lengthen your torso and keep your knees softly straight.
Start phase
Hinge at the hips and slowly fold forward toward your toes. Send your hips back and feel the hamstrings stretch.
End phase
Pause where your hands reach the toes or shins, then stand by lifting from the hips. Bend the knees slightly if the pull is strong.
Target muscles
Focus on the hamstrings lengthening and notice a gentle lower-back stretch. A pull through the middle of the thigh is a good sign.
Common mistakes
Bouncing down with locked knees stresses the hamstrings and lower back. Prioritize the hip hinge instead of rounding your back.
Breathing
Exhale as you fold and breathe comfortably while holding. Feel the hamstring pull ease with each exhale.
Coach tip
Hold a comfortable, pain-free stretch for 20~30 seconds. Use it after lower-body training or running.
