Setup
Sit with your feet on the platform and grasp the handle. Stack your torso upright over your pelvis with your knees slightly bent.
Start phase
Keep your torso upright as you drive your elbows back and pull the handle toward your abdomen.
End phase
Slowly straighten your arms while maintaining your torso angle. Do not let the weight round your lower back.
Target muscles
Pull with your lats and upper back, assisted by your rear shoulders and biceps.
Common mistakes
Avoid leaning back on the pull or folding far forward on the return. Do not use lower-back momentum to move the weight.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull and inhale as you extend your arms.
Coach tip
Choose a weight that lets your torso stay perpendicular to the floor. Keep your torso steady as your arms move.
