Cable Crunch · Preview
Setup
Kneel while holding the rope and find a position where you feel the cable resistance. Keep your hips still, lower your ribs, and prepare to fold through your core.
Start phase
Don't pull with your arms. Curl your torso down toward the floor using your abs. Keep your pelvis still and focus on bringing your ribs closer to your pelvis.
End phase
Slowly rise back to the starting position. Control the ascent while keeping tension in your core instead of standing your torso fully upright.
Target muscles
Think of your arms only holding the rope while your core folds your body. If your arms take over first, lower the weight and refocus on curling your torso.
Common mistakes
Folding at the hips or pulling the rope with your arms greatly reduces core engagement. Prioritize curling your torso and keeping your pelvis still over using more weight.
Breathing
Exhale slowly as you curl down and inhale as you return. A longer exhale can help you feel your abs tighten more deeply.
Coach tip
Imagine keeping the rope beside your head to reduce neck and arm involvement. Don't completely relax your core at the top; that helps maintain engagement.
