Setup
Set the seat so the handles align with your lower chest. Brace your lower body and keep your back on the pad.
Start phase
Press forward as though your lower chest is driving the handles. Keep your torso from lifting off the backrest.
End phase
Return slowly and feel the lower chest lengthen. Look straight ahead and keep your neck and shoulders relaxed.
Target muscles
Drive from the lower chest rather than the arms. If your arms dominate, readjust the seat and repeat.
Common mistakes
Don't tilt your head back or chase the handles too low. A comfortable lower-chest start is more important than load.
Breathing
Exhale as you press and inhale as you return. Maintain a braced torso so the lower chest stays loaded.
Coach tip
Pause briefly at the end to check the lower-chest contraction. Make the return 1 second slower for a stronger stretch.
