High Cable Chest Fly · Preview
Setup
Hold the handles from a high position and step one foot forward. Open your chest and start with a slight bend in your elbows.
Start phase
Bring the handles together on a downward diagonal. Move as if you are pulling them down toward your lower chest.
End phase
Slowly return the handles upward. Control the movement with your chest open so your shoulders do not round forward.
Target muscles
Think about pulling the handles down with your lower chest. If you feel your arms doing the pulling, bend your elbows a little more and try again.
Common mistakes
Bending too far forward or using momentum makes the chest tension less clear. Keep your torso still and maintain only the diagonal path.
Breathing
Exhale as you bring the handles together and inhale as you return. Do not rush or hold your breath on the diagonal path.
Coach tip
Slightly crossing the handles at the finish can intensify the lower-chest tension. Only cross them as far as you can keep your shoulders down.
