Setup
Hold the kettlebell handle with both hands in front of your chest. Keep your elbows close to your torso and brace your core to stay balanced.
Start phase
Lower slowly as you send your hips back. Press through your whole foot and keep your knees from collapsing inward.
End phase
Drive through your whole foot to return to the starting position. Keep your core braced as you rise so your torso stays steady.
Target muscles
Feel your glutes and quads working together. If the kettlebell drifts away from your body, bring your elbows closer to your torso.
Common mistakes
Using momentum out of the bottom can increase stress on your knees. Pause briefly to check your position before coming back up.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower and exhale as you rise. Keep your breathing natural instead of holding your breath.
Coach tip
Turning your toes slightly outward may make your hips feel more comfortable. The most important thing is to repeat the movement through a stable, pain-free range.
