Setup
Secure the belt snugly around your hips and place your feet at a comfortable width near the center of the platform. Lightly hold the handles if needed and keep your chest and torso upright.
Start phase
Bend your hips and knees together as you slowly lower toward the platform. Let the belt pull straight down from the center of your hips, with your knees tracking toward your toes.
End phase
Press through your whole foot to straighten your legs and stand back up. Use your quads and glutes instead of pulling yourself up with the handles.
Target muscles
Focus on driving the platform directly with your quads and glutes without a bar on your spine. If your arms are working too hard, loosen your grip on the handles.
Common mistakes
An uncomfortable belt position or knees collapsing inward increases stress on your hips and knees. Before each set, take the time to align the belt and foot position precisely.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower and exhale as you rise. Keep your abs braced and your chest position steady even at the bottom.
Coach tip
Use the handles only for balance and let your lower body lead. Start light and find the foot position that keeps the belt moving vertically.
