Leverage Shoulder Press Machine · Preview

STEP 1

Setup

Sit deep in the seat, adjust the handles to shoulder height, and keep your body against the backrest. Open your chest and align your wrists and elbows beneath the handles.

STEP 2

Start phase

Press both levers upward at the same speed. Brace your core so your ribs do not flare, and drive through your shoulders.

STEP 3

End phase

Stop when your arms are almost straight, then lower the handles slowly to shoulder height. Match both sides instead of letting the plates pull one side down.

STEP 4

Target muscles

Press overhead with your front and side delts along the fixed lever path. Readjust the seat and elbow position if your triceps fatigue first.

STEP 5

Common mistakes

Lifting your lower back from the backrest or lowering too deeply increases stress on your back and front shoulders. Use a controlled depth and load while keeping both paths even.

STEP 6

Breathing

Exhale as you press and inhale as you lower. Keep your core braced as you breathe so your torso stays against the backrest.

STEP 7

Coach tip

Because the levers move independently, check that your weaker side does not lag. Choose a weight that allows a 1-second pause and a 2-second controlled descent.
