Setup
Hold the EZ-bar with an overhand grip and find the groove that feels comfortable for your wrists. Keep your elbows beside your torso and brace your core.
Start phase
Curl the bar with your forearms without shoulder or lower-back momentum. Keep the feeling that only the joints below your elbows are folding.
End phase
Lower the bar slowly while keeping your forearms engaged. Maintain the same wrist angle without letting it collapse at full extension.
Target muscles
Think of lifting the bar with the outside of your forearms. The EZ-bar grip reduces wrist strain, so slow down further if you cannot feel your forearms working.
Common mistakes
Speeding up because the EZ-bar feels comfortable removes forearm engagement. Keep the wrist angle controlled through the full range of motion, even if the range is small.
Breathing
Exhale as you lift and inhale as you lower. Steady breathing helps you maintain a consistent pace.
Coach tip
Pause for about 1 second at the top for stronger forearm engagement. Use a moderate grip; squeezing too hard makes your fingers fatigue first.
