Setup
Attach the ankle strap, stand sideways beside the cable machine, and hold the handle or frame. Stand tall with the working leg extended out to the side.
Start phase
Pull the extended leg inward and across the front of your body. Use your inner thigh to draw the leg in while keeping your upper body still.
End phase
Slowly return your leg to the starting position out to the side. Don’t let it snap back with the cable tension; keep your inner thigh engaged as you return.
Target muscles
Make sure the inner thigh (adductors) of the working leg is doing the work. If your pelvis rotates with the leg, slightly reduce the range of motion.
Common mistakes
Tilting your torso or rotating your pelvis to create momentum reduces inner-thigh engagement. Prioritize a stable torso and leg path over heavier weight.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull your leg in and inhale as it returns. Keep your breathing steady even when working one side at a time.
Coach tip
Pull until your leg passes in front of your body and slightly crosses toward the opposite side to increase the tension. Use the same range and speed on both sides for balance.
