Chair Dips · Preview
Setup
Place both hands on the edge of a stable chair and move your hips just in front of the seat. Set your feet forward and keep your shoulders down.
Start phase
Keep your hips close to the chair as you bend your elbows and lower slowly. Descend only as far as your shoulders feel comfortable.
End phase
Press into the chair to straighten your elbows and raise your body. Keep your hips close to the chair.
Target muscles
Focus on extending your elbows with your triceps. Your chest and front shoulders assist.
Common mistakes
Avoid shrugging or lowering too deeply. Do not use a slippery chair or one with wheels.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower and exhale as you rise.
Coach tip
Bend your knees and bring your feet closer to reduce the load. Repeat slowly through a comfortable shoulder range.
