Setup
Place only one foot in the center of the platform and sit deep in the seat. Keep your torso and hips firmly against the seat so your pelvis doesn't rotate, and get ready to focus on one leg.
Start phase
Press the platform with one foot to straighten your leg. Maintain pressure through your whole foot instead of shifting onto the inside or outside edge.
End phase
Slowly bend your knee to return to the starting position. Control your range so your pelvis doesn't slide or twist to one side as you lower.
Target muscles
Make sure the thigh and glute on one side are producing force independently. Since side-to-side differences are easy to expose, centered alignment matters even more.
Common mistakes
If your pelvis rotates or your knee loses its alignment on the weaker side, the weight turns into a compensation pattern. Lower the weight and prioritize matching your position on both sides.
Breathing
Exhale as you press and inhale as you lower. Keeping your breathing steady makes it easier to control the working leg.
Coach tip
When training one leg at a time, tempo and alignment matter more than the rep count. Comparing both sides on video can help you spot problems on the weaker side much faster.
