Reverse Dumbbell Curl · Preview
Setup
Stand tall holding dumbbells with an overhand grip, backs of the hands up. Keep your elbows beside your torso and your wrists straight.
Start phase
Keep your wrist angle and curl using your forearms. Do not bend your wrists; lift by flexing your elbows.
End phase
Lower the dumbbells slowly while keeping forearm tension. Keep the overhand grip when your arms are fully extended.
Target muscles
Think of lifting with the top of your forearms and brachioradialis. If your biceps take over, check that your wrists are not bending inward.
Common mistakes
Heavy weight can curl your wrists or make you shrug, reducing forearm engagement. Prioritize fixed wrists and the overhand grip over load.
Breathing
Exhale as you lift and inhale as you lower. Steady breathing helps keep your wrists from wobbling.
Coach tip
Your forearms can work hard with less weight than a regular curl. Lower slowly and keep your wrists straight throughout.
