Standing Balance Quadriceps Stretch · Preview

STEP 1

Setup

Stand tall with your feet together, using a wall or post for balance if needed. Keep your torso upright and gaze forward.

STEP 2

Start phase

Bend one knee, hold the top of the foot, and draw the heel toward your glutes. Keep both knees together and feel the quad stretch.

STEP 3

End phase

Hold where the quad feels comfortable, then slowly release the foot. Spend equal time on the other leg.

STEP 4

Target muscles

Feel the held leg's quads lengthen. Bring the heel closer without pulling the knee backward.

STEP 5

Common mistakes

Leaning forward or arching your back shifts the load to the lower back. Keep both knees side by side.

STEP 6

Breathing

Exhale as you draw the foot back and breathe comfortably while holding. Keep breathing for balance.

STEP 7

Coach tip

Use a wall or post if balance is difficult so you can focus on the quads. Use it before or after lower-body training.
